Kano Pillars FC have emerged as the Champions of the maiden edition of the 2017 Ahlan’s preseason tournament after thrashing fellow NPFL side, Akwa United by three goals to nil in the final, decided on Sunday at the Sani Abacha Stadium, Kano.
A beautiful strike from former First Bank of Lagos hit man, Junior Lokosa in the 21st minutes of the game sandwich between Captain, Rabiu Ali’s brace in a first 45 minutes that was dominated by the former Nigeria Professional Football League, NPFL Champions.
Rabiu Ali open the scoring in the 14 minutes of the game after he was put through in a one on one situation with goalkeeper by Ibrahim Alhassan and the Captain make no mistake by sending the goalkeeper, Ojo Olorunleke the wrong way for the Pillars Opener.
Junior Lokosa created space for himself and fired in a 25 yards shot for the Sai Masu Gida second goal of the evening.
Rabiu Ali completed his brace in the 45th minutes of the game as he starts a beautiful move from a counter attack that involved both Nyima and Lokosa in a 3 by 3 situation. Lokosa’s cross was failed to deal with by Olorunleke and Ali was right there at the spot to slot home the third and final goal of the evening.
The victory makes it a two out of two preseason trophy for Pillars in the space of 14 days after clinching the prestigious Gold Cup, held in Ilorin, Kwara state.
Pillars will next compete in an LMC Invitational Tournament starting on Monday alongside 2017 NPFL Champions, Plateau United, Enyimba International, Akwa United, MFM FC and the CHAN Eagles.
