Players and Officials of former Nigeria Professional Football League, NPFL Champions, Kano Pillars are expected to hit the team’s training ground on Wednesday, January 3, 2018 ahead of an important opening day fixture away to rivals, Katsina United.
The team were given a two weeks Christmas and New Year Break by the management and all players are expected to arrive at the Sani Abacha Stadium by 7:00am on the said date in order to intensify preparation ahead of the forthcoming NPFL season.
Pillars will open their 2017/2018 campaign with a tricky fixture away to fellow Northwestern team, Katsina United dubbed, ‘Brotherly affairs’ before hosting Nasarawa United in week two encounter at the famous Sani Abacha Stadium.
The four time Nigeria Professional Football League Champions ended the 2016/2017 NPFL season in a disappointing 8th placed finish and will aim at going better than the previous Campaign.
Coach Ibrahim A Musa has categorically stated that his main target is to bring back continental football to the Sani Abacha Stadium and a Federation Cup winning trophy to the Pillars faithful.
Pillars ended their Preseason matches before the break and finished first from the rear in an LMC/NPFL invitational tournament, held at their base that include NPFL Champions, Plateau United, Enyimba, Akwa United, MFM FC and the CHAN Eagles.
Pillars were unbeaten on their way to winning two preseason trophies, the Gold Cup and the inaugural Ahlan’s Cup but failed to replicate same performance in the LMC/NPFL Super Six.
The 2017/2018 Nigeria Professional Football League season will kick off on the 14th of January, 2017.
