Kano Pillars FC team has been charged to sit up and face the challenges ahead with all seriousness.
The Chairman of the club Tukur Babangida gave the charge at a meeting with players of the club at Sani Abacha Stadium after their training session today.
Tukur Babangida said the Kano State Government, the Management, and the entire fans of the club are not happy with current performance of the club so far.
He said Government and people of Kano State have high expectation on the team in the on-going season but the way things are going now, the players and technical crew must do something to return the club to winning ways.
“Please I know all of you were recruited based on merit, and you come to Kano Pillars FC because you want to achieve positive results and promote your football career, so it is necessary for you to adjust for your own interest and the club”, Babangida said.
The Chairman maintained that the management is doing its best to make everyone happy in settling all benefits as and when due, so it will not relent its efforts in ensuring that all players are comfortable in the team.
Babangida said the meeting was summoned by the management in order to deliberate and find out what is responsible for the club’s poor performance in the recent matches played especially the loss against Akwa United FC at home last Sunday, and come up with a way forward.
In their separate remarks, the Captain of the club Gambo Muhammad, Adamu Muhammad, and Chinedu Udoji described the current position of the team as a shame and unfortunate but pledged that they will do everything possible to salvage the situation.
They also advised the management, players, and technical crew to tighten their belts and ensure that every one of them is discharging his duties accordingly.
Meanwhile spokesman of the club Rilwanu Idris Malikawa confirmed that the management of the club is working round the clock to punish anybody found wanting in causing the violence immediately after Week 18 Match against Akwa United FC, in which Kano Pillars lost 1 – 0 at Sani Abacha Stadium in Kano.
Malikawa said the management described the incident as unfortunate and it will not condone such kind of behavior.
